Hello all
I have completed the Salkantay trek and visited Machu Picchu (today). It has been an incredible journey and a journey that has been incredibly tough at times. Today we trekked up Waynapicchu which overlooks Machu Picchu and that tested me to my limits. I am tired and feeling on top of the world.
The food has been fantastic; the weather pretty good for the most part and the parts that were testing added to the experience. I feel like I am in another world. Even with all the challenges, it has been a much needed break and growth/healing for me.
Tomorrow we will take it easy - I believe I can pack away my hiking boots!! We head out from Agua Caliente tomorrow by train towards Cusco where we will spend two nights then fly to Lima for our flights home. The streets here are all at such a steep climb or descent (depending where I am heading). Such a good work out. And so busy here in the town - I don't think it was quiet at all last night.
About the trek - so many different landscapes. So many different challenges. Many early mornings. Places where there was a land slide quite recently with new trail being set. The river is amazing - lots of rushing water.
So many times where I felt I could not go on and then I could feel someone sending me the energy I needed to keep going.
Today it was wonderful to get back to Agua Caliente after the visit to Machu Picchu and relax and do some shopping in the markets.
I look forward to the train ride tomorrow - to sit back and enjoy the scenery.
I don't have too many chances to connect and have been enjoying not being connected! - surprise surprise!!

One week and counting...
On May 3rd, I will be heading to Peru for a sacred journey. For five years I have had the dream of trekking Machu Picchu and it is coming to be a reality. Summer of 2009, I signed up for a Goddess Bootcamp that took place at Blacktail Ranch in Montana. To be able to go on the Machu Picchu trek that captured my heart, I needed to go to a Bootcamp. It was tough, it was empowering, it was amazing! Since that bootcamp, I had gone to Nepal for a spiritual trek - No Expectations was the focus. Letting go was the key. I am now heading on another journey that I plan to let go and have no expectations. To be open to the experiences whatever they may be. To be!
I am unsure how often I will be able to post though will if the opportunity presents itself.
This journey will be on the Wild Side!! Salkantay (Wild Mountain) trek will be 6 days/5 nights - a camping journey.
Linda
